Quantitative Morphology: Volumes, Shapes and Voxel-Based Measures
نویسنده
چکیده
Most of the approaches dedicated to automatic morphometry rely on a pointby-point strategy based on warping each brain towards a reference coordinate system. The coordinate system is three dimensional for the comparison of the local densities of grey and white matter (voxel-based morphometry), or two dimensional (spherical) for the comparison of cortical thickness. A more intuitive alternative approach is based on Regions of Interest defined either maually or authomatically. The volumes and shapes of these ROIs (for insatnce sulci and gyri) can be compared across subjects. This talk will give an overview of these different strategies.

P 24: Evaluation of the Voxel Based Morphometry in Quantitative Analysis of Brain MRI Images
Introduction: Voxel based morphometry is a type of statistical parametric mapping that can be used to investigate the effect of diseases such as epilepsy, Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease or other agent such as skills on brain structure (white matter, gray matter and cerebrospinal fluid). The aim of this study is evaluate the effectiveness of this method in detection of differen...
متن کاملPrediction of Human Vertebral Compressive Strength Using Quantitative Computed Tomography Based Nonlinear Finite Element Method
Introduction: Because of the importance of vertebral compressive fracture (VCF) role in increasing the patients’ death rate and reducing their quality of life, many studies have been conducted for a noninvasive prediction of vertebral compressive strength based on bone mineral density (BMD) determination and recently finite element analysis. In this study, QCT-voxel based nonlinear finite eleme...
متن کاملOdf-based Morphometry and Application to Brain Asymmetry
Introduction: The Orientation Distribution Function (ODF), the angular profile of the diffusion probability density function of water molecules, can be estimated from High Angular Resolution Diffusion Imaging (HARDI) data [2]. We present an extension of voxel-based morphometry to ODFs and apply it to brain asymmetry. While little is known about white matter connectivity asymmetry, several recen...
متن کاملLongitudinal characterization of brain atrophy of a Huntington's disease mouse model by automated morphological analyses of magnetic resonance images
Mouse models of human diseases play crucial roles in understanding disease mechanisms and developing therapeutic measures. Huntington's disease (HD) is characterized by striatal atrophy that begins long before the onset of motor symptoms. In symptomatic HD, striatal volumes decline predictably with disease course. Thus, imaging based volumetric measures have been proposed as outcomes for presym...
متن کاملInvestigating white matter fibre density and morphology using fixel-based analysis
Voxel-based analysis of diffusion MRI data is increasingly popular. However, most white matter voxels contain contributions from multiple fibre populations (often referred to as crossing fibres), and therefore voxel-averaged quantitative measures (e.g. fractional anisotropy) are not fibre-specific and have poor interpretability. Using higher-order diffusion models, parameters related to fibre d...
